I was kind of skeptical that this was going to work but it was inexpensive enough to take a risk. It made an immediate difference. First I put it on my pup and he went through all 7 of the tone/vibe levels . Every time i said ‘No Barking’ in a stern voice. Each time he reacted by running in circles trying to figure out what was happening to him. After that he decided that he did not like that tone and he hasn’t gone past the first level of warning since. He’ll bark once, get the tone, react to it and stop immediately the rest of night 1. Night 2 i put it on him, and he won’t bark. I’ll try and make him bark, even play some barking sounds on the computer and he won’t bark most of the time. And even if he does, he gets the warning tone and stops , there’s no follow up barks. He has however been testing the volume of the trigger. He has figured out he can do some quiet grumble type barks and it won’t trigger the tone. But that’s fine, i don’t want him to feel like he can’t ‘talk’ , i’m fine with talking, i just don’t want the loud yelling barking. Now the one negative thing I have to say is the on/off button is not easy to press. It’s very tiny and hard to depress far enough in, i have to put my fingernail on it to press it down. This device delivers results. I am very impressed.

I am a big believer in positive reinforcement only for dog training, and I was very against using a device like this as it delivers a negative reinforcement to the dog. Also, preventing a dog from barking can lead to the dog becoming more fearful and nervous (leading to unpredictable behavior); this is because barking can be an important communication, defense, and signaling mechanism for a dog. But we recently adopted an 8-year old Labrador from a friend whose husband had died and she has cancer and can no longer care for him. We absolutely LOVE him, but he has a huge, loud, scary bark which hysterically upsets my son with Autism. We tried other behavior modification techniques first, but they didn’t work. Our dog barks at squirrels and is terrified of fireworks. But my son was breaking down and started not sleeping at night, worrying about whether the dog would bark in the middle of the night. So, I broke down and bought this. I’ve only had it one evening so far, but IT WORKED INSTANTLY AND ON THE LOWEST SETTING. In fact, I don’t even think the buzzing kicked in; I think the pre-buzz beeping sound did the trick. IMPORTANT NOTE: after it beeped and my dog immediately ceased barking, I also immediately had some pieces of kibble to reward him, and use a happy praising voice with him – THUS CONVERTING THE NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT INTO A POSITIVE ONE. Again, have only used it one night, but I was just stunned at its immediate effectiveness, and we all slept last night. ANOTHER NOTE: I will not use it outside so that my dog can always bark and “defend” himself outdoors, and will only use it indoors in the evenings when the barking is at its worst and scariest for my son. THIS IS A TRAINING TOOL, NOT A PERMANENT COLLAR. Dogs are smart; he will understand that in the evenings indoors with the family, he needs to be quiet, but that other times (like when the doorbell rings during the day) and outdoors, its ok to bark. BE WISE WHEN USING THIS.

My puppy wanted mommas attention every second, while doing the dishes or cleaning all he would do is bark at me. Sorry buddy, but I have to get things done!!. Done without you barking constantly!!! I ordered a hand held push button dog noise thingy, it was supposed to send a noise to him to make him stop barking. It didnt work, he barked more because of the noise. And who wants to push a button every time he barks. I would have had to carry it around in my hands constantly. So, I did some research saw this had good reviews and went for it. It has worked great. I dont have it on him continuously just when he starts to bark etc… once we put it on him now, he doesnt bark because he knows he will get beeping noises in his ear and a vibration shortly after..
