I cannot say anything else but OMG This product is a lifesaver. Or should I say an EAR saver!!!! I have two barkers – one excessive – she barks at anything that moves (leaves in the trees…) and since I purchased this product, I am enjoying the SOUNDS OF SILENCE!!!! I bought them after I had workers in the house, and my big dog Cooper (Goldendoodle – very protective) would not stop barking. I put the collar on him, and the worker stood in front of Cooper in plain sight, and he didn’t bark! My other dog, Sophie, a wheatenterrier, has stopped barking. If either of them bark, the device sends a sound that increases with each bark. After the third bark (which is rare now), it will vibrate. No harm comes to the dogs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. We have been using this collar for about a week now, and it has made a night and day difference. Our 60lb Labradoodle would love to go in the backyard and incessantly bark at our neighbor’s goats, chickens, and other dogs. He wouldn’t come when called and would just yap away. It was like a game to him. Since we put the Bark Collar on, I haven’t heard him bark more than twice at a time. I’m not even sure if he’s made it vibrate yet, but he definitely quiets down when he hears the beeping. He comes inside faster. He doesn’t freak out when the mailman stops by. All around, it’s just been a huge relief. We leave it on 24/7 as he’s a big dog and doesn’t bother him to have this and his regular collar on.

I am a big believer in positive reinforcement only for dog training, and I was very against using a device like this as it delivers a negative reinforcement to the dog. Also, preventing a dog from barking can lead to the dog becoming more fearful and nervous (leading to unpredictable behavior); this is because barking can be an important communication, defense, and signaling mechanism for a dog. But we recently adopted an 8-year old Labrador from a friend whose husband had died and she has cancer and can no longer care for him. We absolutely LOVE him, but he has a huge, loud, scary bark which hysterically upsets my son with Autism. We tried other behavior modification techniques first, but they didn’t work. Our dog barks at squirrels and is terrified of fireworks. But my son was breaking down and started not sleeping at night, worrying about whether the dog would bark in the middle of the night. So, I broke down and bought this. I’ve only had it one evening so far, but IT WORKED INSTANTLY AND ON THE LOWEST SETTING. In fact, I don’t even think the buzzing kicked in; I think the pre-buzz beeping sound did the trick. IMPORTANT NOTE: after it beeped and my dog immediately ceased barking, I also immediately had some pieces of kibble to reward him, and use a happy praising voice with him – THUS CONVERTING THE NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT INTO A POSITIVE ONE. Again, have only used it one night, but I was just stunned at its immediate effectiveness, and we all slept last night. ANOTHER NOTE: I will not use it outside so that my dog can always bark and “defend” himself outdoors, and will only use it indoors in the evenings when the barking is at its worst and scariest for my son. UPDATE: This collar has CHANGED OUR LIVES! My dog has gone from a neurotic, aggressive, attacking, biting, non-stop barker to a quiet, well-behaved sweetheart who can be in public situations, meet people, and handle new, potentially stressful scenarios. Absolutely amazing. It has made all the difference for the correction to come from HIM, rather than from me – he fully understands that a beep means “no barking now,” and he is able to be silent or use a very quiet voice without me even saying anything. This has enabled him to be relaxed and trusting instead of terrified. He never minds when we put it on him – it’s as if it takes away his fear – and he knows he is allowed to run around and bark FOR A MINUTE after it’s taken off. I know it won’t work with every dog, but for mine, it is a lifesaver. (And he was perfect on the plane). FIRST IMPRESSION: My 12 lb. terrier mix is a barker (to put it mildly), and is very protective of me. He has a huge attitude based on fear, and I have tried everything to help him. I am getting on a plane in 4 days and was feeling really desperate that I would somehow have to ship him separately – every trial run to the airport in his carrier was a solid fail.
